The Ivy Room is easily one of the most loved wedding venues in Chicago, and it’s not hard to see why. Between the ivy-covered courtyard, the warm light, and the city tucked just outside its walls, it feels intimate and timeless all at once.
This day was full of real moments, the kind that don’t need much staging. Just people showing up, being present, and celebrating hard. From the ceremony in the courtyard to the energy of the reception, everything felt genuine, emotional, and effortlessly fun.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I’m always looking for the in-between moments, the quick glances, the laughter that sneaks in, the hugs that last a little longer, the hands reaching for each other without thinking. I photographed this wedding with a mix of film and digital to preserve both the emotion and the atmosphere of the day as it actually felt.
